Simile Poem

A hockey team is like a family
We share a bond that cannot be broken
If we win we win as a team
If we lose it is together as one

After the midpoint in the season
Every body's play picks up a notch
It seems as if the pedal is to the metal
Each point brings us closer to victory
Almost as if our lives are on the line

We have shared together five months
Our hearts look to extend that timeline
The entire season comes down to this
A shot ricochets off the goal post
The referee signals as the puck crosses over
The wait is over
The postseason will begin
